Works Biography and Information

1944 Born in Beijing on October 11th.
1956 Enters Central Academy of Fine Arts High School.
1964 Enters Central Academy of Arts and Crafts Interior Design Department.
1970 Sent to countryside for rehabilitation through labour; studies painting with Wu Guanzhong.
1971 Assigned to the stage design unit of the People�s Liberation Army Cultural Corps.
1979 Enters graduate school of Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, studies with Zhang Ding, Wu Guanzhong, Zhu Danian, and Yuan Yunfu.
1980 Establishes the Contemporaries Painting Society with classmate. Together, they organize the Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition at the National Art Gallery. Joins the National Chinese Artists Association.
1981 Graduates from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts with a Master�s Degree in Fine Arts.1983 Joins the Beijing Painting Academy as artist in residence. In autumn, Wang embarks on a sketching trip to the wild northwest, Shanxi and Shaanxi Provinces.
1984 �Struggle� wins top honors at Beijing City Art Exhibition.
1985 Participates in National Oil Painting Theory Seminars at Huangshan, followed by a painting trip to the Shaoxing area. Theme of Yangtze River village life dominates works.
1987 Embarks on two-year visit to the USA with his family at the invitation of Oklahoma University and the GHK Company. During this time, he visits major museums and holds both solo and group exhibitions in New York.
1989 �Hometown� wins bronze medal at the Seventh National Art Exhibition.
1990 Returns to the Shaoxing region to paint from nature.
1991 �Ming Style� and �Man who embraces the World� win gold medal at the 1991 Annual Exhibition of Chinese Oil Painting, and honorable mention at Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Commemoration of the Late Mr. Huang Zunxian.
1993 Visits four countries in Europe as member of Chinese Artists Visiting Delegation.
1995 Jury member, Chinese Youth Oil Painting Exhibition. Joins Chinese Association of Oil Painters.
1996 Painted �Night Revel � Han Xizai�s Night Revel� and other works in the series.
1998 Exhibited in China 5000 Years, Guggenheim Museum, New York, USA.
Exhibited in The Asian Art Fair, New York.
Exhibited in Tradition and Retrospection � Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Art, German Embassy, Beijing.
1999 Solo exhibition at Ling and Keng Gallery, Taipei.
