"Who Let the Dogs Out?"
Is the economy getting you down? Are you feeling a little blue and is cash a little bit tight this Christmas? If the answer is yes to any of the above then come to Yan Gallery on Wednesday 17th December, and cheer yourself up with an exhibition of delightfully optimistic dog paintings by our popular Beijing artist, Bob Yan.
Following his sell-out exhibition, “In the Dog House,” in January 2005, we are pleased to present a collection of another forty dog portraits. Come and bask in the vibrancy of his palette and let the joyfulness of his paintings lift your spirits. For the opening night we are inviting all dog owners to bring in their pets to enjoy the festive season.
What makes his dog portraits so endearing is their uncanny resemblance to humans. This collection features a coy-looking Chihuahua, an earnest-looking Basset hound, and a nervous-looking Poodle. Whether pedigree or mongrel, each dog is painted with such liveliness and passion, one cannot help but love them all.
Bob Yan was born in 1970 and is a graduate of Tianjin Fine Art Academy. In 2002, he completed a Masters Degree from the Central Fine Art Academy in Beijing. Bob now lives and works as a professional artist in Beijing. He has received widespread acclaim and numerous awards in China, Hong Kong and Singapore, including a gold medal a few years ago at the 10th National Fine Art Exhibition in China for his work on a mural at the Chinese Literary Museum in Beijing.
