《明镜画集》 我喜欢夏戈尔，喜欢毕加索，自然喜欢上明镜。毕加索的人物经过变形大多张狂有力使人难忘。明镜用细线刻出来的小鼻小眼和有时不在应有位置上的小乳房像他本人那样，温和，内敛。夏戈尔的梦色彩缤纷。明镜的梦灰色为主调，轻描淡写如诗如中国画。明镜画一个渔夫在船上打鱼，身边斜靠着的是美人鱼。这是明镜的幽默。北方的城镇是灰色的，加上一点黄颜色便是黄昏时分。透过窗子可以看到屋里的人在做着下班之俊回到家中该做的事情。这是五六十年代中国人最期待的短暂舒心的一刻。最先打动我的正是这组描写家园的小画。看明镜的画感到在与他同游、同梦、同躲进纷乱生活中的一块安静的小天地。你会感到身与心的松弛。 方毓仁 二零零四年三月 "Oil Paintings by Ming Jing" I am very fond of works by both Chagall and Picasso, it is therefore not surprising that I was immediately drawn to the paintings by Ming Jing. Most of Picasso’s cubist figures are strong and powerful and leave a lasting impression. Ming Jing’s figures, by contrast, are delicate and subtle with fine features; small eyes, small noses, small miss-proportioned breasts. The figures are defined by delicate lines; they seem gentle and introverted, like the artist himself. Chagall's dream-like impressions are colourful, Ming Jing’s, on the other hand, are predominantly grey. The rhythm of his work resembles that of a traditional Chinese painting. Ming Jing paints a fisherman on a boat, next to him is a reclining mermaid, this is his sense of humour. The small towns of northern China are depicted in shades of grey; by applying some yellow here and there the artist denotes twilight. Through the windows you can see people returning home after work, this brief period of free time is so precious to the people living through the 1950’s and 1960’s in China. The first connection I felt to his paintings was when I saw this series of small paintings relating to his hometown. Ming Jing’s paintings give you the sense of weightlessness, as if you were gliding through them. He seems to be hiding in a small tranquil world far away from the chaos of reality.
